In this Gospel reflection, given during an Awakening Kirtan Mass, James Reho uses the story of the Raising of Lazarus from the dead to highlight God’s affirmation and love of our truest, most unique selves. In the recent string of unfortunate suicides among gay youth, it is important to realize that we are loved as we are in the heart of God: gay, straight, male, female, whoever we are… we are loved. God calls us, like Lazarus, out of the “tomb” into a world of light and love and acceptance.
